Application-Driven Icons Test application buttons are labeled with icons which clearly depict the way the test is performed on the circuit (e.g., circuit monitoring tests are indicated by MON/THRU. The icons and quick setup buttons enable technicians to use the 2310 effectively, with very little training.

Auto Configuration Support for auto configuration is provided in all key applications on the 2310. One-button touch configures different test parameters, such as framing, pattern, and tributary scan, and enables users to reduce the test set-up time required.

Automation Reduce set-up time and increase efficiency of the tests performed by running pre-programmed scripts off the PCMCIA card. The command line remote control feature enables technicians to connect to the 2310 through the PCMCIA serial card or PCMCIA modem and configure tests or analyze results in detail.

Qualify the performance of SONET networks quickly and easily with the 2310's intuitive GUI. With its support for various payload mappings, the 2310 enables testing and verification of individual payloads inside an OC-n signal (DS1, DS3, muxed DS3, VT1.5, OC-n subrates). Technicians can name and identify trace messages and payloads by using the 2310's user-configurable path trace messages.

   The TPI Model 82 DDS Test Unit is used for qualification turn-up testing of 4-wire local loop facilities used in DDS (Digital Data System) and Basic Digital Service offerings. Normally used at the Customer Premises, the Model 82 automatically configures itself to reflect the serving Central Office Channel Unit (OCU). Network generated Loopback capabilites include CSU and DSU Loopbacks and CSU and DSU Latching Loopbacks. Test capabilites include 511 and 2047 PRBS (Pseudo Random Bit Sequence) and QRS (Quasi Random Signal), in addition to the Pattern Senstive (Stress) sequences. Received Byte Pattern LED's and Error Readouts per Channel make the Model 82 an easy-to-use Loop Tester. Battery power makes the Model 82 truly portable. The DDS Test Unit has capability of testing both the Primary and Secondary Channels (where applicable) at data rates of 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 56, and 64 Kbps.

Loopback to testing: Using network test equipment, the CO test center can issue a CSU or DSU loopback to the Acterna 82. Once the loopback is established, the network test equipment will send and receive BERT patterns. The source of a problem may reside at the customer premises or in the 4-wire local loop. The Acterna 82 can conduct BER testing on the local loop when a hard loop is placed on the OCU DataPort (OCU-DP) card, enabling the technician to test in either direction from the customer premises. Straightaway testing: Straightaway testing is similar to loopback testing. The Acterna 4WLL Service can transmit or transmit and receive a known test pattern toward each other simultaneously.     The Tele-Path Instruments 650 Frame Relay Test Set is a compact, battery operated device used to conduct testing of Frame Relay circuits at the Customer Premise (CP) or User Network Interface (UNI). The TPI 650's operating modes allow it to function in a Terminating mode, acticng as the CSU/DSU and TE,DTE, or in Monitor mode allowing monitoring of an operational FRS circuit. With the optional FRS Stress Testing feature installed the unit can test a new network leg by generating various data rates and frame sizes in order to "stress" the network. The TPI 650 allows testing of a FRS circuit by emulating a CSU/DSU and TE and communicating toward the network at the UNI or emulating DTE and testing toward the CSU/DSU. Full T-1 or Franctional T-1 service is supported on the 4-wire Local Loop (DDS) Interface. The DTE interface supports all speeds up to 1.536 Kbps using TPI test cables. The TPI 650 allows the user to place a FRS data call, choose data call speed, cunduct PING testing, performing Bit Error Testing, and monitor DLCI's for troubleshooting testing.

Utilizing dual-channel, full-duplex interfaces, these devices provide true bi-directional testing using programmable delays, random bit errors, and burst errors. Multiple delay and error events can be programmed into complex sequences to simulate a wide variety of adverse link conditions or even specific events such as targeting line framing bits and testing CPE alarm thresholds. Adtech?s lowest priced simulator model, the SX/12, is available in three versions supporting link speeds up to 8.448 Mbps.
