The Agilent 34901A module for the 34970A Data Acquisition/Switch Unit is the
most versatile multiplexer for general purpose scanning. It combines dense,
multi-function switching with 60 channel/second scan rates to address a broad
spectrum of data acquisition applications. Two and four-wire channels can be
mixed on the same module. Two additional fused inputs (22 channels total) route
up to 1A of current to the internal DMM, allowing ac and dc current measurements
without the need for external shunt resistors. Excellent general purpose module.

Multiplexer Selection Guide
Choose between the broad functionality of the 34901A, the high
speed scanning of the 34902A, or the single-ended density of the 34908A. These
three modules are the only way to connect to the 34970A internal DMM. They can
be used to scan with external instruments as well. All multiplexer modules
employ break-beforemake scanning, ensuring only one closed channel (or channel
pair) at a time. Multiple channel closures are allowed on the 34901A and 34902A
modules when not configured for scanning. The 34908A does not allow multiple
channel closures at any time.
Up to three modules, in any combination, can be inserted into a
single mainframe. The 34970A?s internal DMM connections are accessible only
through the 34901A, 34902A, and 34908A low frequency multiplexers. On-module
screw terminals accept wire sizes from 16 gage to 22 gage. Twenty-gage wire is
recommended for high channel count applications. The 34905A and 34906A RF
Multiplexers use SMB connectors. A standard set of (10) BNC-to-SMB adapter
cables is provided with each RF module for convenient BNC connections.

The Agilent 34907A module for the 34970A Data
Acquisition/Switch Unit allows great flexibility for a variety of sense
and control applications. It combines two 8-bit ports of digital input
and output, a 100 kHz gated totalizer, and two ±12V analog
outputs - all on a single earth-referenced module. The digital inputs
and totalizer input may be included in a scan. Alarm limits for the
digital and event counter inputs are evaluated continuously, capturing
and logging alarm conditions even between scans.
Digital Input/Ouput
Use the digital outputs with an external power supply
to control microwave switches and attenuators, solenoids, power relays,
indicators, and more. Use the digital inputs to sense limit switch and
digital bus status. There are no complex handshake modes; reads and
writes are initiated either from the front panel or the bus.
Totalize Input
Count events from devices like photo interrupters,
limit switches, and Hall-effect sensors.
It keeps an updated total which can be read via the
front panel or programmatically at any time. With 26 bits of
resolution, it can count events at full speed for nearly 45 minutes
without an overflow.
Analog Output
Use the two electronically calibrated analog outputs to
source bias voltages to your device under test, to control your analog
programmable power supplies, or use the outputs as setpoints for your
control systems. The outputs are programmed directly in volts, either
from the front panel or from the bus.

high-frequency and pulsed signals. Use it to route test signals between

The 44473A offers highly flexible switching with a 4 X 4, 2-wire
matrix. Any combination of 4 input channels may be connected to any
combination of 4 output channels. Each cross point or node in the matrix
uses a 2SPST relay to switch 2 lines (Hi and Lo) at a time. Multiple 4 X 4
modules can be connected to form larger matrices. Multiplexers can be used
in conjunction with this larger module to effectively expand the number of

Flexible Switching

The Hydra Series is available in three models to
fit many application requirements. The 2620A Hydra Data Acquisition Unit is a
compact front end for use with your PC. The portable 2625A Hydra Data Logger
features non-volatile memory that stores more than 2000 scans, for stand-alone
applications. And the 2635A Hydra Data Bucket with its removable memory card for
data and set-up storage is the most versatile model - ideal for remote
monitoring applications.
All models are easy to set up and reconfigure from
the front panel. Additionally, all units have bi-directional communication via
RS-232C, which enables control from a host computer. The RS-232C interface also
supports stand-alone use with a serial printer. An optional GPIB/IEEE-488
interface is available for the 2620A only.
The Hydra Series is extremely rugged and able to
operate in diverse environments. Its operating range is 0 to 60ºC, and it is
tested to stringent shock and vibration standards. Hydra's sturdy metal chassis
effectively shields against electromagnetic interference, maintaining high
measurement accuracy on low level signals. The analog circuitry is also isolated
from the digital circuitry so you can measure high voltages directly (up to 300V
ac rms). And it conforms to I.E.C., C.E. and CSA safety standards. What's more,
all set-up information is battery-backed, so it's immune to power failure. Hydra
will return from a power loss and resume scanning, while all configuration

NetDAQ Data Acquisition Units give you a powerful combination of hardware and software that's ideal for small-to-medium scale process monitoring and test systems. Flexibility
The Hydra Data Bucket comes equipped with a 256 KB
PCMCIA card and is also available with either a 1 MB, 2 MB, or 4 MB memory card
to suit your data storage needs. Data may be uploaded from these cards via the
Hydra RS-232 port, the optional 263XA-803 memory card drive, or from your
computer's standard PCMCIA slot. Real-time data can be simultaneously
transferred to a PC at the same time it is recorded to the memory card.
Quick setups
Simply push a few front panel buttons or load
instrument setups from the memory card.
Fail-safe features
The Hydra Data Bucket gives advance indication of
a low battery or low memory condition on the memory card. Its internal memory
buffer continues to store up to 70 scans while the card is removed.
Universal Input Module
The removable Universal Input Module enables fast,
convenient set-up and reconfiguration. Any combination of dc voltage, ac
voltage, thermocouple, RTD, resistance, or frequency measurements can be
connected to the input module without the need for additional signal

size from 256K, 1 Mb, 2Mb and 4Mb in size. Up to 450,000 readings may be stored
on a 2M byte memory card. For applications where large amounts of data are
generated, you may swap memory cards without interrupting the Data Bucket's
scanning.

Features: High-quality data (accuracy) - The quadruple oversampling digital filter is used as the output stage in the multiplex PCM recording method. The signal-to-noise ratio is 70 dB.
The frequency characteristic flatness is +0.5 dB, -1 dB. The phase difference between channels is 5° (fmax).
Multi-channels and wide band - The RD-101T uses a 2-channel/4-channel switching system. The band for 2-channel recording is 20 kHz and the band for 4-channel recording is 10 kHz.
Small and compact - The data recorder is approximately 306 mm wide x 100 mm high x 307 mm deep, and weighs approximately seven kilograms. The data recorder is therefore very portable.
Long recording time - When a 120 tape (approximately 60 m) is used, data can be recorded continuously for two hours.
Three power supplies - Operates on either AC input of 90-130 (180-250) volts, DC input of 11-30 volts, which are provided normally, and an optional rechargeable battery unit. The battery unit can be incorporated by mounting it on the data recorder. Since the battery charge function is built into the data recorder and protection for battery over-discharging is provided, the RD-101T can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Easy operation (condition setting is unnecessary) - The input range is fixed to eliminate the need for complicated range setting. The purpose of this function is to approach the absolute value recording by making the input and output voltages equal:
Memo sound channel - In addition to the data channels, a channel used only for voice recording and reproduction is provided. Since the microphone built into the data recorder is provided normally for recording, environmental sounds can always be recorded during measurement.
Time code recording channel - In addition to the data channels, a channel used only for recording and reproduction of time codes is built in. The year, month, day, hours, minutes, and seconds of the built-in clock with perpetual calendar are automatically recorded. Since the time code is always automatically recorded, it can be used to confirm the recording time of measurement data on the display.
Data number (ID number) recording channel - In addition to the data channels, a channel used only for recording and reproduction of ID numbers is built in. The ID number of the recorded data is automatically recorded. The ID number is incremented by one each time recording starts or the EVENT button is pressed.
High-speed search - The recorded ID number can be searched for at high speed during reproduction. The search is performed both in the forward and reverse directions. When the target ID number is found, the target data is reproduced from the beginning.
Pressing the PAUSE button during search causes the tape to pause at the beginning of the data when the search ends.
