Rent me for $350 a month

The Agilent/HP 11722A contains a thermal coupled power sensor and a bypass switch that directs the RF signal to the power sensor or directly to the Agilent 890xx. When measuring RF power the RF signal is routed directly to the power sensor in the sensor module. The sensor module can measure RF Power from 100 kHz to 2.6 GHz. When making all other measurements the RF signal is routed through the RF cable directly to the 890xx. The frequency range of the 8902A is 150 kHz to 1300 MHz.

A Single RF Input Connection

With the 11722A Sensor Module, you get all the performance of the Modulation Analyzer, plus superb power measurement accuracy, at a single connector. You can characterize a signal without manually switching between the power sensor and the analyzer¿s RF input.

Low Input SWR and Insertion Loss

Special care is taken with each sensor module to minimize input SWR and resulting errors. A low SWR attenuator isolates the power sensor from the source under test, reducing mismatch. Microwave hardware and a selected RF input cable further improve SWR and insertion loss.

Zero the Sensor with One Keystroke

You can zero the 11722A power sensor without removing it from the source under test. Just push the 890xx ZERO key. After eight seconds, zeroing is completed and the new zero offsets are stored automatically.

Agilent/HP 3562A 100 Khz Dynamic Signal Analyzer

Agilent/HP 3562A 100 Khz Dynamic Signal Analyzer

Rent me for $400 a month

The Agilent/HP 3562A Dynamic Signal Analyzer is a dual-channel fast Fourier transform-based network, spectrum and waveform analyzer which provides analysis capabilities in both the time and frequency domains. The dc-to-100 kHz frequency range, 150 dB measurement range and 80 dB dynamic range of the analyzer makes it a powerful solution for testing and analysis in electronics, mechanics and electromechanical control systems. Two high performance input channels and a built-in signal source (noise and sine signals) address network analysis on the bench or in a test system. Zoom analysis with frequency resolution to 25.6 µHz plus a powerful AM, FM and PM demodulation function makes the Agilent/HP 3562A a versatile spectrum analyzer. For transient or waveform analysis, signals can be sampled, digitized then stored in an internal memory, or directed via HP-IB to an external disc drive (without a computer). The stored waveforms can be recalled and analyzed in the time and frequency domains (baseband and zoom analysis).

Additional features include a full range of data analysis capabilities such as vector averaging, block-operation Waveform Math, a 40-pole/40-zero Curve Fitter and Frequency Response Synthesis. Front panel operations can be automated without a computer with built-in Auto Sequence programming, or with computers through complete HP-IB programmability. For documentation of results with hardcopy or mass storage, the Agilent/HP 3562A can control digital plotters and external disc drives directly via HP-IB. Network Analysis

Accurate, high resolution frequency response measurements of electronic and mechanical systems can be performed with Linear Resolution FFT, Logarithmic Resolution and Swept Sine Analysis. A built-in signal source provides a variety of random noise and sinewave signals to meet the requirements of the system under test. Linear Resolution is the measurement technique common to all Dynamic Signal Analyzers. In the Agilent/HP 3562A, 2048-point time records are Fourier-transformed in to 801-line frequency spectra.

For network analysis, frequency response magnitude and phase, as well as input and output power spectra, can be measured with 801 lines of resolution. Accuracy for the frequency response magnitude and phase is ± 0.1 dB and ± 0.5°. Logarithmic Resolution uses the speed of Linear Resolution FFT measurements to create frequency responses similar to a log-sweep swept sine test. Linear Resolution points are combined internally (rather than just reformatted), on the fly, to create 80-point-per-decade measurements over 1 to 5 decades. Start and stop frequencies can be selected in a 1-2-5 sequence from 0.1 Hz to 100 kHz (for a 0.1 Hz start frequency the maximum stop frequency is 10 kHz - 5 decades). The Swept Sine mode reconfigures the Agilent/HP 3562A as a powerful swept sine frequency response analyzer. The source can generate linear or logarithmic sweeps with increasing or decreasing frequency; user-selectable sweep rate and resolution are also standard source functions. Input channel functions include user-selectable averaging and integration time; automatic input ranging can be activated to provided over 130 dB of dynamic range for measurements of high performance systems

Basic impedance accuracy is +/- 0.8%. High Q accuracy enables low-loss component analysis. An internal synthesizer sweeps frequency from 1 MHz to 1.8 GHz with 1 mHz resolution. A 1.8-m error-less cable connects the analyzer to a test station so you can extend your test point away from the analyzer without losing accuracy. Advanced calibration and error compensation function eliminate measurement error factors in fixtures and assure high accuracy and repeatability at DUT/MUT.

Features

  • Four component test fixtures (DUT size: 0.5 mm to 20 mm)
  • Independent parameter selection in 2 channels
  • Direct read-out permittivity, permeability (option)
  • Two material fixtures (operating temperature: -55deg C to +200deg C)
  • Versatile analysis (temperature, cole-cole plot, relaxation time)
  • Sweep parameters (frequency, ac level, dc bias, temperature)

The Agilent/HP 4291B also provides automatic level control and monitor of test signals by using IBASIC programming function; devices can be measured under a constant voltage or current. Measure bias dependent impedance characteristics with optional dc bias (up to 40 V and 100 mA). At the push of a button, the built-in Equivalent Circuit Analysis Function automatically calculates the circuit constant values of five circuit models.

The Agilent/HP 4291B has two measurement channels; each channel can be set to measure a single (e.g. Z) or dual (e.g. Z-theta) impedance parameter. The color TFT with split-display can show both active traces and memory traces (stored in RAM). A built-in floppy disk drive stores programs and test data in either LIF or MS-DOS format. With built-in IBASIC, you can control external test equipment such as a temperature chamber or wafer prober directly from the Agilent 4291B. You do not need a separate instrument controller.

Material Evaluation

The Agilent/HP 4291B enables easy and sophisticated material evaluation and improves material evaluation quality and efficiency. The Agilent 4291B provides the total dielectric/magnetic material measurement solutions in wide frequency range (1 MHz to 1 GHz).

    Agilent/HP 8901B 1.3 GHz Modulation Analyzer

    Agilent/HP 8901B 1.3 GHz Modulation Analyzer

Rent me for $400 a month

The Agilent Technologies 8901B Modulation Analyzer combines four precise measurement functions into one fully automatic, GPIB programmable instrument. It includes a power meter, modulation  analyzer, frequency counter, and audio analyzer. For precise signal analysis, the 8901B Modulation Analyzer provides the performance you need, the features you want, and the reliability and serviceability you expect.

RF Power delivers the accuracy and resolution of a high performance power meter. The 8901B with the Agilent Technologies 11722A Sensor Module measures power from +30 dBm to -20 dBm at frequencies from 100 kHz to 2.6 GHz. The 8901B accepts all Agilent Technologies 8480 series power sensors for extended measurement capability.

AM and FM measurements offer 1% accuracy (3% accuracy for PM) and fast one-key operation. The 8901B has extremely low internal noise, and very low AM/PM and PM/AM conversion, for accurately measuring residual and incidental AM, FM and PM on a wide range of simple and complex modulated signals.

RF Frequency of complex modulated signals can be difficult to measure, but not with the 8901B. Automatically tuning to the largest input signal or to any user specified frequency, the 8901B counts with 10 Hz resolution.

Audio distortion, frequency, and level measurements provide comprehensive characterization of the modulation signal.

    Features

    • RF Power: ±0.02 dB instrumentation accuracy

    • RF Frequency: 10 Hz resolution

    • AM and FM: 1% accuracy

    • PM 3% accuracy

    • Audio Characterization

    • AC Volts: ±4% accuracy

    • Frequency: 6 digits of resolution

    • Distortion: ±1 dB accuracy

    Transmitter Testing

You can perform your standard transmitter measurements with the 8901B Modulation Analyzer. It measures transmitter output power very accurately, and it counts frequency to 10 Hz resolution. The 8901B will accurately measure the signal modulation, and characterize the demodulated audio signals frequency, level, and distortion. The 8901B includes many features designed for transmitter testing, such as a Peak Hold detector for capturing short transient modulation signals and a special Tone-Burst-Receiver Mode. Using this mode, audio signals are captured and demodulated in <5 msec. This is used for demodulating signaling tones sent when a transmitter is first keyed. Because the 8901B may be directly connected to the output of the transmitter, overpower protection to 25 watts is standard.

    RF Signal Characterization

The 8901B Modulation Analyzer is an excellent lab and production tool for accurately characterizing RF signals from 150 kHz to 1300 MHz. The 8901B s built-in power meter eliminates the need for an external power meter. Unlike diode detectors, the 8901B s power meter accurately measures signals with harmonics and spurious.

The 8903E audio analyzer provides unparalleled versatility and performance for audio measurements from 20 Hz to 100 kHz. The 8903E combines the functionality of a high-performance distortion analyzer, frequency counter, ac voltmeter, dc voltmeter, and SINAD meter into one compact package. With microprocessor control of source and analyzer, the 8903E can perform stimulus-response measurements (such as signal-to-noise ratio and swept distortion) automatically with additional equipment. For ease of use, most measurements on the 8903E are made with only one or two keystrokes. The 8903E automatically tunes and autoranges for maximum accuracy and resolution. For quick identification of input signals, the analyzer counts and displays the input frequency in all ac measurement modes.

    Features

    • Measures distortion, SINAD
    • Measures true-rms ac volts, dc volts, frequency
    • rms, average, and quasi-peak detection
    • The 8903E has no source

Both the Agilent/HP 8903B and Agilent/HP 8903E have been optimized for receiver testing. For SINAD measurements, extra filtering and smoothing circuits yield more accurate and repeatable results. Transmitter testing is also easy. In conjunction with the Agilent/HP 8901A , 8901B , or 8902A modulation analyzers you can measure transmitter distortion, frequency response, and count squelch tones.

The Agilent/HP 8903E Distortion Analyzer make your audio measurements fast and easy. The analyzers automatically tune and autorange for maximum accuracy and resolution. Distortion, frequency response, ac and dc voltage measurements are only a single keystroke away. For applications where a separate source is used, the 8903E is an ideal lower-cost solution.

HP-IB control of all measurement functions makes analyzers valuable tools for ATE applications.

These analyzers combine the power of a digital voltmeter, frequency counter, and distortion analyzer into one instrument. Since these functions are all available at one input connector, interfacing requirements, hardware costs, and software development time are reduced. The 8903E also includes a low-distortion programmable audio source. The analyzers have many features which make difficult audio measurements easy.

    Balanced Analyzer lnput

In the quest for higher output power, many audio amplifiers use bridged output stages. Such amplifiers can be difficult to characterize because their outputs cannot be grounded. To test these devices, the usual approach has to been to use a balanced, calibrated isolation transformer connected to an analyzer with an unbalanced input. Balanced inputs on the 8903E  make transformers unnecessary.

The 89440A vector signal analyzer cover baseband through RF frequencies of dc to 1.8 GHz, in scalar and vector analysis modes. The scalar RF instrument mode allows full-frequency coverage in spans of 1798 MHz. Vector RF mode offers exceptional speed and additional signal processing for enhanced time-domain characterization and demodulation. Vector spans as wide as 7 MHz can be selected anywhere in the 1.8 GHz frequency range. In vector RF mode, both phase and amplitude characteristics are captured in the time-series data. This information can be processed for narrow resolution spectrum anaysis, AM/FM/PM demodulation, time-selective analysis, and may other types of mesurements.

Based on the Agilent/HP 89410A baseband vector signal analyzer, the 89440A RF vector signal analyzer extends the frequency range of both receiver and source to 1.8 GHz with a 7-MHz information bandwidth. All of the vector capabilities of the 10-MHz baseband instrument {up to a 7-MHz information bandwidth) can be translated to any frequency from 0 to 1.8 GHz.

The Agilent/HP 89440A radio frequency (RF) vector signal analyzer consists of two components. The first is the 89440A intermediate frequency (IF) section, which is identical to the HP 89410A 10-MHz baseband vector signal analyzer. The second component is the HP 89440A RF section, which extends the vector signal analysis capabilities of the baseband analyzer to RF frequencies. The scalar RF instrument mode allows full-frequency coverage to 1798 MHz. Vector RF mode offers exceptional speed and additional signal processing for enhanced time-domain characterization and demodulation. The RF section maintains an 8-MHz IF bandwidth designed for good flatness. However, in a vector signal analyzer both amplitude and phase accuracy are very important, so sophisticated vector IF calibrations were developed.

    * True-rms power detection and excellent amplitude accuracy combine for a powerful measurement capability.

    * A local oscillator (LO) feedthrough cancellation circuit improves the LO feedthrough substantially, preserving dynamic range at low input frequencies.

    * The RF local oscillator is not constrained to provide fine frequency resolution. (The baseband section provides that with its digital LOs). This degree of freedom had significant impact on design efficiency and development time.

Measurement of electric and magnetic fields in this price range has never been this PROFESSIONAL. Find radiation sources in your surroundings. Find their respective frequencies and signal strengths, including direct display of exposure limits. This used to be impossible in this price category, professional units often costing several thousand euros and being excessively complicated in handling.
The highly complex calculations in spectrum analysis incl. exposure limit calculation is being performed, unnoticed in the background, by a high-performance DSP (digital signal processor).

Exposure limit calculation used to be a complex and awkward procedure even for the professional, as most of the time, a chaotic mixture of an abundance of different frequencies, modulations and signal strengths is present. The indispensible, highly complex calculation of frequency-dependant exposure limits can ONLY be performed CONFORMING TO STANDARDS by a spectrum analyser with high-performance software. Not a problem for SPECTRAN® units: They can calculate even several authoritative exposure limits, precautionary limits and recommendations at lightning speed (simply selectable via a button) and display these overruns as a practical bargraph display (including convergence display in percent!), while the measurement is running. For achieving this, often thousands of complex calculations have to be performed per second, and a steady scan of the entire frequency range needs to be performed. A true nightmare for every processor. In our test case, the graphic display shows an approximation towards the ICNIRP limit by 6,06%. You can even cover the total ICNIRP-banwidth (depending on frequency). Hence, even the novice can perform exposure limit calculations ACCORDING TO STANDARDS without having to use complex tables and calculators. It really can't get any simpler.

Superior Solutions for Bluetooth Protocol Analysis and Debug

Developers of Bluetooth enabled devices are faced with unique challenges when integrating hardware and application software. The end device must be thoroughly tested for correct operation within a wide range of piconet/scatternet configurations and interoperability with other devices is critical. Since Bluetooth is a wireless interface between devices, it is necessary to have a test tool that can non-intrusively and independently intercept the baseband traffic and log, decode and analyze the packet data being transmitted and received. The Tektronix Bluetooth Protocol Analyzer BPA100 was designed to meet these demanding and critical needs. It is capable of logging, decoding and displaying all baseband packets that are transmitted within a Bluetooth piconet. In addition it can isolate, decode and display higher-level protocol layers such as LMP, L2CAP, RFCOMM, OBEX, HDLC, PPP, TCS and SDP including service attributes. There are two main modes of operations: Independent Mode and Piconet Mode. In Independent Mode, the protocol analyzer passively monitors the piconet while in Piconet Mode it actively participates as either a master or slave.

    Yokogawa TA720 Time Interval Analyzer

Rent me for $1000 a month

Continuous Measurement at up to 80 MS/s and Inter-Symbol Interference Analysis with Dual Measurement Function

The TA720 Time Interval Analyzer has larger memory capacity and is faster than the highly regarded TA520 and TA320. It has a maximum sampling rate of 80 MS/s, and maximum memory capacity of 1024 k samples (in Time stamp mode). In addition, the TA720 has a variety of completely new functions, such as a dual measurement function, inter-symbol interference analysis function, and an optional Ethernet and PC card interface. This time interval analyzer is the ideal analysis tool for jitter analysis of high-speed optical disk signals and recording characteristic evaluations.

High-Speed Continuous Measurement at up to 80 MS/s

The TA720 can continuously measure signals as fast as eight times DVD speed. It continuously measures high-speed signals from sources such as fast-rotating CDs and DVDs, and next-generation optical disks without dropping measurements. This makes accurate jitter analysis possible.

    Dual Measurement Function

This function enables two measurements to be done simultaneously. The available measurement combinations are Period A & Period B, Period A & A-to-B time interval, Pulse A & Pulse B, and Pulse A & A-to-B time interval. During optical disk jitter measurement, for example, it is possible to perform two types of jitter measurements (data-data jitter and data-clock jitter).

    Inter-Symbol Interference Analysis Function

With this function, it is possible to extract and analyze data corresponding to set code conditions (such as all T spaces between 3T marks). The distribution of the extracted data and related statistics can also be displayed and compared against all of the data at the same time. When combined with the dual measurement function, the inter-symbol interference analysis function enables even faster jitter analysis through techniques such as extracting data-clock data using pulse width as a condition.

Ethernet and PC Card Interface (optional)

Data transmitted to the TA720 through an Ethernet connection can be saved to the PC card or shared over a network. In addition, measurement conditions can be set and controls such as starting and stopping measurements can be entered over the network when an Ethernet connection is used.

The dual measurement function can be used to simultaneously measure an optical disk¿s data-data jitter and data-clock jitter. In the past, it was necessary to do these measurements separately, so there was a need for steps such as synchronization using an index signal from a spindle motor as a measurement-start control signal. With the TA720, however, these two measurements can be done simultaneously, so data-data jitter and data-clock jitter from the same measurement area are obtained at the same time.

This function extracts data corresponding to specified conditions, such as jitter for each space length immediately following a 3T mark, and jitter in each space length between one 3T mark and another. This data can be used to analyze the effects of the code on jitter. The inter-symbol interference analysis function is useful for evaluating recording strategies, such as recording power control and phase control, and recording waveforms.
