Advantest Q8384 Optical Spectrum Analyzer
Advantest Q8384 Optical Spectrum Analyzer
Rent me for $1000 a month
with option
- Option 25 Calibration light source with
EE-LED output
The Advantest Q8384 is a high-end optical spectrum analyzer
using a new monochromator developed by ADVANTEST and featuring a high dynamic
range and a high wavelength resolution. It offers the world's highest level of
performance with a 10pm wavelength resolution and a 20pm wavelength accuracy in
the 1.55µm band. This enables precise measurement and evaluation of wavelength
characteristics. The Q8384 optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) is optimized to
test devices used in DWDM applications, or any application where broad spectral
range measurements are required.
Features
- High-wavelength resolution of 10pm
- High-wavelength precision of 20pm
- Wide dynamic range 50dB (±0.1nm) and 60dB (±0.2nm)
- Direct input of large signals: + 23dBm (200mW)
- Measurement of NF noise indices of EDFAs
- Thin film filters for triplexers
In DWDM optical communications, exacting wavelength
measurements are required of the optical source. Evaluating these specifications
requires an optical spectrum analyzer with enhanced resolution bandwidth and
wavelength accuracy. To meet these stringent requirements, the Q8384 achieves 10
pm wavelength resolution, the best in the world and attains 20 pm wavelength
accuracy in the 1550 nm band. This high performance makes it possible for the
Q8384 to measure the oscillation wavelength characteristics of laser diodes
accurately. DWDM optical communication systems also contain wavelength division
multiplexed channels spaced at intervals as close as 50 GHz (0.4 nm). In this
environment an optical spectrum analyzer with superior dynamic range is required
to separate the optical signals and measure the noise figure (NF) of the optical
amplifier. The Q8384 has a dynamic range as wide as 50 dB at 0.1 nm and 60 dB at
0.2 nm and therefore fulfills these requirements adequately. Equipped with
automatic optical amplifier NF measurement and arithmetic facilities, the
instrument allows the user to make measurements in a simple fashion. The Q8384
optionally has a built-in reference wavelength light source and an EE-LED (edge
emitting LED). If calibrated with this reference light source, the instrument is
assured to provide wavelength accuracy of 20 pm in the 1550 nm band. Using the
EE-LED's broad-band light source, the Q8384 allows the user to conveniently
measure and evaluate the transmission and loss characteristics of narrow-band
optical filters.

Rent me for $150 a month
The 8156A is a high performance attenuator for single-mode and multimode
applications. Options are available to select the desired return loss
performance (up to 60 dB). An optional 13 dB monitor output allows you to
measure the signal power at the output of the attenuator. Using the built-in
back reflector mode and an external reference reflector (81000BR), the 8156A can
be used as a programmable back reflector to measure component and system
sensitivity against reflections. The attenuation range is 60 dB with 0.001 dB
resolution between 1200 nm and 1650 nm. Due to a novel single filter design, no
ranging occurs. This completely eliminates dark spots or potential attenuation
overshoots or undershoots. Attenuation accuracy is typically better than ±0.05
dB with a polarization sensitivity of less than 0.02 dB peak-to-peak.

Features
- High power density allows high measurement range
- Single-mode fiber output, angled connector option
- Modulation input: up to 300 Hz for applications
using lock-in techniques or external control (on/off)
In conjunction with an optical spectrum analyzer, the
incoherent light source Agilent 83438A allows you to measure insertion
loss, crosstalk, bandwidth, polarization dependencies, and other
parameters of passive optical components versus wavelength.
The Agilent 83438A provides more than +6 dBm in the
1550 nm window, allowing you to characterize advanced components such
as isolators, circulators, add/drop multiplexers, gratings, or
demultiplexers for dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM)
systems.
The Agilent 83438A?At a Glance
The Agilent 83438A Erbium ASE Source provides incoherent light for
characterizing fiber-optic components. Its output is centered at
approximately 1550 nm. Because it has a relatively high-power spectral
density, you can probe devices with medium or high insertion loss. Its
single-mode output originates from the amplified spontaneous emission
(ASE) of an Erbium doped fiber amplifier. The power spectral density of
the output is up to one hundred times (20 dB) greater than that of edge
emitting LEDs (for example, the Agilent 83437A Broadband Light Source)
and up to 100,000 times (50 dB) greater than white-light tungsten lamp
sources. An internal optical isolator protects the Agilent 83438A from
back reflections from the device under test. This greatly improves the
power stability of the Agilent 83438A.

Agilent/HP 86145B High Performance Portable Optical Spectrum Agilent/HP 86145B High Performance Optical Spectrum Analyzer Rent me for $2000 a month
with option
The Agilent 86145B is a portable optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) that is best suited for 50 GHz and wider WDM applications where accurate power and wavelength measurements are critical. This OSA has all the performance capabilities of its larger sibling, the Agilent 86142B, while having a smaller 12.8" x 16.8" footprint and weighing 31 lbs. Features- Built-in test applications
- 10 pm wavelength accuracy
- Fast dual-sweep method
- Covers S, C, and L wavelength bands
- Extended WDM wavelength range
The 86146B benchtop OSA enables new test methods you may never have thought possible. One of the applications of the filter mode is to allow a single tightly spaced DWDM signal to be isolated. You can then quantitatively analyze in the time domain without losing any of the traditional OSA functionality you?ve come to expect from Agilent. It is now possible to switch between parametric measurements in the physical domain to functional measurements in the time domain. The WDM application can sequentially or selectively drop WDM channels that require additional analysis. The 86146B provides the flexibility to drop a single DWDM channel as tight as 12.5 GHz spacing with fast-tuning speed, low-insertion loss, and highly repeatable wavelength accuracy. We?ve also designed our built-in WDM application to work with the single-mode monochromator output path to simplify the task of pre-selecting a desired WDM channel for analysis. Another application of the filter mode is to measure time resolved chirp (TRC) and to compute dispersion penalty (DPC). Using the SMF feature of monochromator out as a preselector with a DCA, chirp measurements can be made on lasers. Built-in applications take the uncertainty out of measurements for WDM systems, lasers, amplifiers, and passive components. These applications allow for fast, accurate, easy to use, and repeatable measurements of critical parameters. All of these applications can be added through a simple firmware upgrade. The 8614xB series of optical spectrum analyzers provide fast, accurate, and comprehensive measurement capabilities for spectral analysis. Full-featured SCPI commands for programming instruments over LAN Display-off feature for making faster measurements Remote file saving and printing for outputting measurement results Filter mode for accurate and flexible measurements Built-in applications for accelerating test times

FCAccess 1000A introduces a revolutionary new design for Fibre Channel test
instrumentation that provides the user with unprecedented power and flexibility.
FCAccess features a client/server architecture with host-independent
(Java-based) clients that can run on virtually any host computer (not just a
PC). The FCAccess client provides the ability to easily design complex
triggers and filters, to completely control the system and to analyze the trace
recordings. As with other systems, the client can run on the local CPU to
provide a fully-integrated,. stand-alone analyzer, but the real power of
client/server architecture is the ability to run the analyzer entirely from
remote locations. This allows the development engineer to maintain an
integrated development environment within a single desktop workstation.
Access to the server simultaneously, allowing concurrent sharing and
collaborative diagnosis and problem-solving for geographically-distributed

Ancot 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel FC2000
Rent me for $1000 a month
Ancot Corporation introduced the industry's first 2Gbit protocol
analyzer for Fibre Channel systems. The 2Gbit Fibre Channel standard is a new
version of the Fibre Channel interconnect and data transfer system for Storage
Area Networks (SANs) and other applications. The FCAccess 2000 continues to
advance the innovations of the first FCAccess Analyzer, a new analysis system
for Fibre Channel networks. The Fibre Channel analyzer introduces ChannelTrack,
a system performance monitoring capability that tracks data flow and helps
identify system bottlenecks and improve network performance. The analyzer
captures FC traffic at 2Gbit speeds in native lOB format at rates exceeding
540MB/sec. To allow users to utilize captured data, the new product also
includes WarpSearch, a hardware-assisted data search engine that searches for
and finds data within seconds. FCAccess is the first network-attached analyzer
for Fibre Channel, based on a host-independent Java client/server architecture.
It also provides trace memory (up to 2GB) to allow users to record traffic
sequences.
FCAccess clients make it easy for users to design multilevel
triggers and filters to control the system and analyze trace recordings. The
client can run on the local server to provide a standalone analyzer, but the
power of the client/server architecture is the ability to be run from remote
locations. Using FCAccess, development engineers can maintain a development
environment within a single desktop workstation. Since the server is available
over any IP network, multiple users (clients) can access it simultaneously,
allowing for diagnosis and debugging from different geographic locations. Much
more than a trace viewer, the. FCAccess client allows the user to control and
operate the analyzer from any location.
The product is available in multiple configurations with system
configurations starting under $35,000.

Anitsu ML9002A Handheld
Optical Power Meter
The
ML9002A is a compact handy power meter with a measurement level as wide
as other more expensive instruments. Seven optical sensors are
available for different wavelengths, measurement levels, and optical
input types. Each can be calibrated for three common wavelengths so
absolute optical power can be read directly. Each optical sensor can
either be incorporated directly in the main frame or connected using a
connecting cord. The ML9002A can be used to check optical disks,
optical printers and optical communications systems and can back-up
on-side operations as a powerful multifunctional measuring instrument
for maintenance.
Features
· Accurate optical power measurement The power of a narrow beam
can be accurately measured even when an adaptor is changed because
anti-reflection optical sensor is used.
· Long-distance measurement with wide measurement level range
An unprecedented wide measurement level has been achieved in this handy
optical power meter. Optical power of ?70 to +3 dBm (MA9621A Optical
Power Sensor) in the 1.3 µm band and ?70 to +10 dBm (MA9423A
Optical Power Sensor) in the 0.85 µm band can be measured.
· Direct absolute power readings for three wavelengths Each
optical sensor is calibrated at three wavelengths (0.633/0.78/ 0.85
µm or 0.66/0.78/0.85 µm for short wavelengths, and
0.85/1.3/ 1.55 µm for long wavelengths). The absolute power is
indicated automatically just by switching to the measured wavelength.
· Flexible measurements Two types of connections, a plug-in
system (sensor incorporated into main frame), or a cord system (sensor
connected using connecting cord), are possible so that measurement
capabilities are flexible.
· Monitoring without cutting optical fiber The optical power in
an optical fiber cable (ø0.25 mm, UV-coated fiber) can be
measured by using the MA9722A Optical Power Sensor.
· Compatible with various connectors The ML9002A can be quickly
connected to FC, D4. RUNGE, ST, DIN, DIAMOND, and SC connectors just by
replacing the connector adaptor.
