   The 3M Ground Pro Ground Integrity Meter is a comprehensive instrument that measures the ground connection of your equipment in accordance with ANSI 6.1 and ANSI/ESDA S.20.20 standards. In addition to measuring ground impedance, it also measures AC and DC voltage on the ground as well as the presence of high-frequency noise or electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the ground, alerting you to possible functionality problems, such as tool lockups, erratic behavior and parametric errors.

   The 3M Ground Pro Ground Integrity Meter measures several important parameters of ground integrity: ground impedance, voltage, and high-frequency noise (EMI) on a ground. Ground connectivity is measured in accordance with ANSI 6.1, ANSI/ESDA S.20.20 and other standards. More specifically, it is measured as AC impedance in a way that is immune to parasitic voltages and currents on a ground.

   In addition to monitoring the ground connection, the Ground Pro measures high frequency voltage (EMI) on the ground that is often present in a factory environment. Such interference causes problems with the operation of equipment. The Ground Pro also measures AC and DC voltage on the ground in case of miswiring.

   In order to maximize precision, the Ground Pro measures impedance down to milliohms and automatically cancels impedance of test leads so that even milliohm values can be read accurately. In addition to measuring ground impedance, the Ground Pro also measures AC and DC voltage on the ground while separately measuring high-frequency voltage (EMI). This information is greatly beneficial when performing diagnostics of equipment malfunctions and lockups. The Ground Pro is an essential tool for anyone concerned with ensuring proper grounding of equipment during installation, maintenance and throughout regular use.

Why a Multimeter Wont Do

Three Rear Panel Plug-In Options

   Either one of three different optional assemblies may be used with the 3457A for different measurement capabilities.  Using the multiplexer assemblies with enable up to ten signal channels to be scanned either sequentially or randomly. 

   For measurement flexibility, the 44491A Armature Relay Multiplexer Assembly offers eight two-wire channels and two current/actuator channels.  Under software control, the eight two-wire channels can be reconfigured to four 4-wire ohm channels.  The two current channels offer automatic make-before-break switching so that the path for current as high as 1.5 A is never broken.

   For higher speed scanning, the 44492A Reed Relay Multiplexer Assembly offers ten two-wire channels.  The 44492A is useful for switching DCV, ACV, AC+DCV, two wire ohms, frequency and period measurement signals with a maximum amplitude of 125 V.  The Reed Relay Multiplexer can close a relay and make a measurement at a maximum rate of 300 channels per second.

   For measurement of voltages up to 1414 V peak, the 44497A High Voltage Assembly offers a 1000:1 attenuator input (channel 1) for the high voltage measurements.  In addition, the other rear terminal input (channel 0) can be utilized to perform conventional VDC, VAC, Two-wire and Four-wire Ohms, Period, Frequency, DCI, and ACI measurements.

Precision Measurements

   The 1865 provides resistance measurement capability from 1kΩ to 100TΩ (test voltage dependent) with a basic accuracy of 0.5%. To meet test requirements for a wide range of devices, the test voltage is fully programmable up to 1000V DC. Sensing the proper resistance measurement range is done automatically, thus eliminating setup errors; and in order to eliminate lead or fixture errors, the operator can easily initiate an automatic zeroing routine of test leads.

   In addition to the wide range of measurement functions and capabilities common to all Series 2000 DMMs, the Keithley Model 2001 has many other advantages for test system builders. While other DMMs may claim to offer 71⁄2-digit resolution, they typically must average multiple readings to achieve their specified resolution, which slows the reading rate significantly. In contrast, the Keithley Model 2001s true 71⁄2-digit resolution is based on a 28-bit A-to-D converter, so no averaging is needed to discern smaller changes. This high resolution also provides greater dynamic range, so its possible to measure from 1V to 20V on a single range and avoid range-shift errors.

Unique measurement capabilities

   Unlike the Model 2000 or 2010, the Model 2001 offers the ability to make peak spikes measurements without the need for a separate oscilloscope. Its internal peak detector can catch 1s spikes, such as power supply spikes and transients, AC line power surges, and short-duration drop outs on components, as well as up to 1MHz for repetitive signals. The Model 2001 can automatically display and store the highest value, or display the maximum and minimum values of spikes. Similarly, no oscilloscope is required to determine if the crest factorthe ratio of peak value to rms valuesof an AC signal is acceptable to ensure measurement accuracy, because the Model 2001 measures AC crest factor directly. While some DMMs will calculate average AC from the RMS value, these calculations apply only to sine wave inputs. What is an electrometer?

   The Reed MS2301 Digital Ground Resistance Clamp is a direct, safe, quick test of earth resistance without the use of auxiliary ground rods. Simply clamp around the ground conductor or rod and measure the resistance to ground. This high sensitivity clamp meter can measure the leakage current to 1mA, neutral current to 20A RMS.

   The Rod-L M25 is a 25 amp rated Ground Continuity Test Set. It allows testing of the ground system of a device under test to the rated test current. This insures that the ground and bond system will protect the operator during a catastrophic failure. A ground bond test applies a higher ac current to the ground connection. This test simulates the fault which may occur within a product by applying 25 A or higher at 60 Hz to the mains ground connection and any exposed metal on the product. A ground bond test checks the integrity of the connection and its ability to sustain high current.    The Tektronix J1806 Radiance Head is designed for quickly verifying or resetting the color balance of a display. The display should first be color characterized using either a J17 with a J1820 chromaticity color head,  or using a J18 with a J1810 chromaticity head. The J1806 has a flat spectral response 8% from 450 nm to 750 nm due to its stable multi-element laminated glass photopic filters. Readings taken are measured in watts/meter /steradian.    For surface radiance and display measurements, the J1806 field of view must be completely and uniformly filled. The J1806 has an acceptance angle (or cone of acceptance) of approximately eight degrees. This corresponds to a 1.7-inch (4.3 cm) diameter circle at a distance of one foot from the sensor. The diameter measured is proportionally greater as distance increases; for example it is approximately 17 inches at 10 feet (43 cm at 3 m) from the sensor.

   As long as the entire acceptance angle is uniformly filled by the light source, the sensor-to-surface distance is not critical, and the reading source will be the same regardless of distance. The area viewed increases proportionally with the square of the distance, thus compensating exactly for the decrease of light that occurs proportionally with the square of the distance. The minimum viewing diameter of the J1806, using the suction cup in contact with the surface to be measured, is approximately 0.5 inches (1.27 cm). 0.5 inches (1.27 cm).
