Precision and versatility
The Agilent Technologies 8360 family consists of the
general purpose B-model series and the application-focused L-model series. They
combine the excellent frequency resolution, level control, signal purity, and
modulation capabilities you expect of a high-performance synthesized signal
generator with the speed and convenience of a sweep oscillator. They are ideal
for the demanding requirements of signal simulation, local oscillator, and
stimulus/response component or subsystem test applications. The 8360 family
offer a choice of models to meet a variety of application requirements.
Ultra-broadband frequency coverage from 10 MHz to 50 GHz is available in coax
using a 2.4 mm precision connector. High-power models with up to +20 dBm are
also available, and can be used to directly drive the 83550 series mm-wave
source modules for superior performance to 110 GHz in waveguide. The 8360 can
also be customized with 1 Hz frequency resolution, fast pulse, a synthesized
internal modulation generator, and a blank front panel for automated test
applications.
Flexible and upgradable for growth
The 8360 is designed to facilitate future growth. The
hardkey and softkey front-panel design offers easily accessible functions that
are simple to use. Softkey flexibility and modular architecture provide upgrade
capability, while retaining system compatibility. The family delivers the
cost-effective and state-of-the-art perform-ance you need today, while
protecting your investment in the future.
Serviceability
The 8360 models only need to be calibrated once every two
years. Should a problem arise, over 280 internal self-tests quickly isolate more
than 95% of instrument failures to the assembly level. Intermittent problems may
be efficiently located by continually monitor-ing the tests and logging the
results to the internal display or an external printer. To minimize the need for
external equipment, adjustments have been automated with DACs and calibration
constants where possible. Internal service power meter and voltmeter functions
are available for performing most of the few remaining manual adjustments, as
well as enabling more specific and thorough troubleshooting. The RF deck can
also be raised as a whole unit for service, or reversed for rear RF output
without output power degradation.

systems with RF bandwidths to 6.0 MHz under multipath fading conditions. The 11759C consists of the applications software and the RF
processing hardware. To complete the RF multipath simulation system, two
user-supplied components are necessary - a PC acting as a user interface and a
synthesized LO used to determine the RF operating frequency and to supply a 10
MHz clock signal.
Features
- Simulates realistic signal propagation for CDMA,
NADC (TDMA or E-TDMA), GSM, PDC, DCS1800, PHS, and more
- Rayleigh, Rice, or Long-normal fading
- RF bandwidth > 6.0 MHz
- Doppler to 425 Hz
- Delay intervals to 186 µ in 1 ns steps
- PC controlled
Two Multipath Channels Provide Test Flexibility
The Agilent/HP 11759C contains two independent 40 MHz to 2700 MHz RF
channels of three paths each. Each path can be Doppler-shifted, Rayleigh or
Log-normal faded, delayed and attenuated relative to the others. In addition,
under Rayleigh fading conditions, the correlation factor for path pairs in the
two channels is adjustable from 0 to 1. With an external power divider and/or
power combiner, and two separate channels available, it is easy to configure the
HP 11759C(s) for single-channel 6 (or 12) path tests, co-channel interferer
tests, adjacent and alternate channel tests, and space and/or frequency
diversity tests. This flexibility is particularly important during the radio
R&D phase and also important for manufacturing test and type acceptance testing.
Easy to Use Manually or Remotely
Simple-to-use onscreen menus guide the user through the task of
creating complex RF mulitpath signals for testing a mobile or base station
radio. These same menus are accessed remotely by installing a HP-IB interface
card in the PC.

Agilent/HP 8340A Option H02 20 GHz Synthesized Sweeper
Agilent/HP 8340A Option H02 20 GHz Synthesized
Sweeper
Rent me for $600 a month
The 8340A Opt H02 is comparable to the HP 8341B. The 8340A
Synthesized Sweeper delivers the combined high-performance of a synthesizer and
a broadband sweep oscillator in one instrument that is complete controllable via
the HP Interface Bus (HP-IB). This efficient combination of performance and
versatility is ideal for manual or automatic test systems and in many cases
enables the unit to replace a sweep oscillator, a frequency counter, an RF
synthesizer, and a microwave synthesizer. The 8340A synthesized sweep generator
offers superior resolution of 1 to 4 Hz over the frequency range of 10 MHz to
26.5 GHz. Output is generated by an indirect synthesis technique that yields low
single-sideband phase noise. This makes the 8340A an excellent source for use in
conjunction with microwave network analyzers like the HP 8510B. The indirect
synthesis technique also gives the 8340A a very fast CW switching time of
typically better than 35 ms. A fast phase-lock feature can also be enabled to
give switch times between 11 and 22 ms depending on absolute frequency and step
size. Long term stability is excellent at 1x10-9/day. Calibrated output range
+10 dBm to -110 dBm. Pulse, AM, FM modulation and a complete analog sweeping
with widths as narrow as 100Hz. HP-IB.

Agilent/HP 8350B RF Sweeper Mainframe Agilent/HP 8350B RF Sweeper Mainframe Rent me for $100 a month
The Agilent/HP 8350B is a powerful general-purpose for swept microwave measurements, wideband CW signal generation and automatic testing. It incorporates the efficiency of microprocessor control with state-of-the-art YIG-tuned oscillators and GaAs FET amplifiers to produce a high performance sweep oscillator system ideally suited for either manual or automatic measurements. You can easily configure a source to meet your application's frequency coverage and power requirements. Just combine the versatile HP 8350 mainframe with any of the 32 standard RF plug-ins and you are ready to make measurements. Both the advanced Agilent/HP 83500 series plug-ins and the existing Agilent/HP 86200 series plug-ins (via the HP 11869A adapter) are accepted by the Agilent/HP 8350B mainframe. Features - Versatile microprocessor-controlled mainframe
- Single-band, straddle-band and broad band plug-ins
- Accurate, high resolution, digital displays
- Five marker with marker D and marker sweep
- Save/recall 9 complete front panel states
- 10 mV output power to 26.5 GHz
- Total HP-IB programmability
- Compatible with HP Network Analyzers
The Agilent/HP 8350B has been designed to include many features that not only speed up and simplify measurements but also improve accuracy. In addition, it is compatible with Agilent/HP network analyzers, counters, noise figure meters, power meters, and microwave link analyzers to provide complete solutions. All function values (sweep limit frequencies, marker frequencies, etc.) are indicated on high resolution digital displays. Function values are easily modified using the appropriate knob, step keys, or data entry keyboard. Five independent, continuously variable markers are available to note your measurement frequencies. The active marker frequency or the difference frequency between any two markers is read easily from high resolution digital display. You can also use marker sweep to zoom in on a particular frequency span while retaining your original sweep limits. Another particularly useful feature in making repetitive measurements is the 8350B's Save/Recall Mode. Once the sweeper has been set for a particular measurement, all front panel settings (8350B and 83500 series plug-in) can be Saved and later Recalled to repeat the measurement by accessing one of nine internal storage registers. In the past, HP-IB programming of sweepers was limited to a series of CW frequencies. With the 8350B all front panel functions, e.g. sweeps, markers, sweep time, even output power (83500 series plug-ins) can be programmed. This means there are no limitations in designing your own customized test systems. Utilizing the Learn Mode function, the 8350B becomes a "talker" as well as "listener" on the bus, transferring all manually entered front panel controls to the computer. Full compatibility with both the 8510 and the 8410C Network Analyzers, the 8756A and the 8757A Scalar Network Analyzers are provided for convenient vector and scalar measurements with the 8350B. The 5343A Counter can be combined with the HP 8350B to measure Start, Stop, or marker frequencies with up to 100 kHz accuracy while sweeping. |

Agilent/HP 83595A 26.5 GHz RF Plug In Agilent/HP 83595A 26.5 GHz RF Plug In Rent me for $100 a month Requires a 8350B mainframe to operate
The Agilent/HP 83595A RF plug-in provides a 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz broadband coaxial swept frequency source for the Agilent 8350B sweep oscillator mainframe. Applications include scalar network analysis, serving as a local oscillator for down-converting high frequency signals, and a stand-alone RF signal source. The Agilent/HP 83595A covers the 0.01-26.5 GHz range in a single sweep. While the HP 83595A series feature broadband sweeps, they still maintain narrowband precision. The frequency output exhibits excellent stability and accuracy. At 26.5 GHz the HP 83595A maintains an accuracy of ± 12 MHz. Power output capabilities have been expanded to provide power sweep and slope control. In addition, the HP 83595A series plug-ins are completely HP-IB programmable. The most outstanding feature of the HP 83595A series plug-ins is their broad frequency range. Innovative technology is used to create this precision frequency range. The principle behind this technology is the Switched YIG Tuned Multiplier circuit (SYTM). The YTM circuit uses the output of a fundamental oscillator to drive a high-efficiency multiplier that has been integrated with a tracking YIG filter in order to create and select high order harmonics to be used as output frequencies. A figure of merit for the HP 83595A series is their flat output power over the entire frequency range. The output power is internally leveled within 0.9 dB with a displayed resolution of 0.1 dB. Since power parameters are critical to high frequency measurements, the HP 83590 Series (along with all HP 83500 series plug-ins) offer many modes of power output. In addition to a single power output, the HP 83590 Series offer a Power Sweep function. The Power Sweep function sweeps a power range for characterizing level sensitive devices like amplifiers and transistors. The Slope mode is supplied to provide compensation for cable or test set losses. In all these modes the power output is internally monitored and leveled. If preferred, the power may be externally leveled. The HP 83590 Series plug-ins are capable of power meter leveling with the HP 432A/B/C, 436A, and 438A power meters. Features- High output power

Anritsu MG3633A 2.7 GHz Signal Generator Anritsu MG3633A 2.7 GHz Signal Generator Rent me for $500 a month with options - 03 High Stability Timebase
- 04 Rear Panel SMA Output
The Anritsu MG3633A has excellent frequency resolution, frequency switching speed, signal purity, and a high output level, in addition to amplitude, frequency, and phase modulation functions. Also, sweep functions are provided for carrier frequency, output level, and modulation frequency so an appropriate sweep can be performed for various devices to be measured. Also, the MG3633A has a frequency memory that can store 1000 car-rier frequencies and a function memory that stores 100 panel settings. Moreover, since the maximum output level is +17 dBm, it can be used for various local signal sources. The MG3633A is suitable for research and development of mobile communications in the quasi-microwave band, performance evaluation, characteristics testing, and adjustment of various types of radio equipment such as digital land-based mobile communications, mobile satellite communications, satellite broadcasting, and radio LANs. Features Low Noise By using both the latest synthesizer and RF-device technologies and optical data links in the internal control circuit, the SSB phase noise has been cut to ?140 dBc/Hz (CW, 1.1 GHz, offset 20 kHz). In particular, the MG3633A shows its power in measurement of narrow-band radio equipment S/N ratio and adjacent channel selectivity. High accuracy and high-output level Low levels of ?123 dBm can be set with ±1 dB accuracy by using a high-accuracy programmable attenuator. The output level can be displayed in units of dBm, dBµV, V, mV, and µV or as a relative value (dB). A maximum output of +17 dBm can be obtained over a wide frequency range so 2-signal or 3-signal testing can be done easily. A high-accuracy highly-reliable programmable attenuator (life cycle over 3 million times) is used and since flat output characteristics are obtained by internal calibration over a wide range from 10 kHz to 2.7 GHz, it is effective for testing antennas and cables. Moreover, compensation data for obtaining flat levels at cable ends can be input by using a power meter, GPIB, controller, and frequency-response compensation software (option). Modulation characteristics The MG3633A has AM, FM, øM, and a combination of all three modulation functions. - AM A high-accuracy AM wave is generated over a wide frequency range. Countermeasures against carrier-wave variation due to vibration permit even SSB radio equipment to be tested with confidence.
- FM FM with a maximum frequency deviation of 3.2 MHz is possible (1.28 to 2.7 GHz). Also if the frequency deviation is too low, automatic operation is carried out in the stabilized DC-FM mode so even digital data transmission equipment such as pagers can be tested .
Continuously variable output level The MG3633A can output continuously-variable signals in a 20 dB range with 0.1 dB steps at any level. This is especially convenient for measuring the dynamic range of magnetic tape and squelch sensitivity of radios which produce hysteresis phenomenon as a result of level variation. |

Tektronix gigaBERT GB700 Pattern Generators and Error Detectors The GB700 operates at bit rates up to 700 Mb/s. These instruments are cost-effective for lower-speed applications today and will accommodate your future high-speed requirements as well. The GB700 can generate pseudo-random bit sequences (PRBS) up to 223-1 bits in length or user-programmable patterns containing up to 128 Kbits so the user can effectively simulate live traffic or "worst case" patterns. Patterns can be created locally using setup menus or externally by using a workstation or PC. A PC Windows-based Pattern Editor software package comes with the GB700. Powerful Analysis and Reporting Functions Not only will the GB700 Error Detectors synchronize with any pattern sourced by a gigaBERT Pattern Generator, they can perform a bit-by-bit comparison and bit error analysis on an arbitrary signal if provided with a known good external Reference data stream. Moreover, the GB700 calculates errored seconds (ES), percentage error-free seconds (%EFS), severely-errored seconds (SES), degraded minutes (DM), unavailable seconds (US) and loss of signal (LOS) seconds. All bit error results - including the three BER measures - are calculated simultaneously and may be displayed during a test or after a test has been completed. A hard copy of all test results can be generated locally by connecting a printer to the parallel printer port or GPIB or RS-232 port. Reports may be printed when an error is detected, at the end of test intervals or both. The GB700 performs a full-rate, bit-by-bit analysis of the received signal. Bit error results are then used to calculate three bit error rate (BER) measures. Total BER is calculated from the last power-on or reset. Window BER is calculated over a sliding window specified in terms of time (1 second to 24 hours) or bits (18- to 116-Bit). Test BER is calculated from the start of the current test. Front Panel Or Automated Operation The GB700 provide easy operation augmented by set-up store and recall. Clear, concise LCD displays of setup and results make it easy to use. The and GB700 Pattern Generators and Error Detectors can be controlled via the GPIB or RS-232 interface ports. The gigaBERT remote command set includes commands for all setup menus and front panel selections. The status of front panel indicators and test results can be remotely accessed. |

Tektronix HFS9003 Digital Stimulus System Mainframe Tektronix HFS9003 Digital Stimulus System Mainframe Rent me for $200 a month Requires additional modules
When product designs were simple, and time-to-market not so critical, designers could afford the days, or even weeks, necessary to assemble, program, debug and characterize the various elements of a stimulus system and its fixturing. As product design complexity and market pressures have increased, however, designers of high-speed, high-performance circuits simply cannot afford this expenditure in time. Now there's a solution. With Tektronix HFS9000 Stimulus Systems we've taken the features of a high-performance pulse generator, made them better and added complete data generation capabilities as well. We've eliminated the need for a switch matrix since we have data and timing on every pin. And the need for a separate power supply is gone, as the HFS9000 has the ability to produce the DC levels needed to drive logic lines directly. Finally, all these capabilities are present on every pin simultaneously, so you get extremely flexible formatting. Now you can set up a complete stimulus system in minutes, rather than hours or days, and test products more thoroughly throughout the development cycle. Digital ArchitectureThe HFS9000 Series products were designed as completely programmable digital instruments rather than being based on traditional monostable analog architecture. This allows more capability and flexibility in pulse edge placement without the restrictions that analog instruments commonly impose. Now you can adjust both Delay and Width from 0 to 20 µs over all frequencies. Modular DesignYou can build a stimulus system with from four to 36 channels in one mainframe, and 640 or more channels across multiple phase-locked mainframes. Choose from the HFS9003 mainframe with 3-slot, 12-Channel capability, or the HFS9009 mainframe with 9-slot, 36-Channel capability. Both systems can include the 4-Channel HFS9DG1 and HFS9DG2 Data Time Generator cards in any combination. All channels are slaved to a common clock, resulting in highly accurate channel-to-channel edge placement. This makes the HFS9000 ideal for precise characterization and evaluation of synchronous devices having multiple, and possibly interactive, inputs. Full Channel Deskew CapabilityAll HFS9000 channels have independent, wide deskew ranges to allow precise pulse alignment and timing at the device under test (DUT). Deskew compensates for the timing differences caused by cabling and fixturing so your analysis can be focused on the relative timing at the DUT. 1 ps Timing ResolutionNo other system lets you generate whatever combination of signals is required, with data and timing on every pin with 1 ps resolution. Now you can create data buses, clocks, strobes, gated clocks, logic level sources, pseudorandom bits and other stimuli with unequaled accuracy. You can perform setup and hold time margin tests by providing the clock, data, set and reset signals to the DUT. And you can hold inactive signals at programmable high or low logic levels, eliminating the need for external DC voltage sources and microwave switches. |
